Mataiasi, commonly known as ‘Matai’, obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree and Professional Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of the South Pacific. He was admitted to the bar in the High Court of Fiji as a Legal Practitioner in September 2023.
Prior to joining Haniff Tuitoga, Mataiasi completed an internship with the International Labour Organization (ILO) office for Pacific Island Countries in Suva, Fiji, in the department of International Labour Standards and Labour Law Reform, gaining insight on employment law on a regional and international scale with experience in assisting Pacific Island Countries incorporate International Labour Standards into their national labour laws. Mataiasi was also engaged with the ILO consultants who worked with the Ministry of Employment, Productivity & Workplace Relations, on the Employment Relations Bill review.
Mataiasi was also engaged with the Ministry of Employment, Productivity & Workers Relations as a Legal Volunteer for six months, gaining insight on the world of employment law on a national scale.
